Fans geek out over the work of James Marsters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Torchwood, but the actor himself is a fan who has prayed at the church of fandom -- comic cons -- since he was 13 years-old.

I caught up with the erstwhile Spike at Wizard World Philadelphia a couple weeks back to chat about fandom. And in the following video, die-hard Star Trek fan Marsters reveals he used to dress up as Spock and nerd out with his fellow fans at the con. He also notes that people actually speak to one another at con (rather than being on, you know, Facebook and such) and there is a sincere connection to the material within the community.

Marsters also chats about the time he came so close to being in a Star Trek film, Nemesis, as Captain Picard’s clone. As a fan, he said this was a huge moment, and the gig was almost his — until he blew it!

Watch the video below and find out if he's had a chance to talk with Patrick Stewart about the missed opportunity.

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" Stars Nicholas Brendon and James Marsters

It's the 20th Anniversary of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", and we're celebrating with two of the stars of the show: Nicholas Brendon and James Marsters! They're in town for Wizard World Minneapolis and stopped by our studio to talk about 20 years of "Buffy"!

Nicholas appeared in almost every episode the cult show and James was a fan-favorite who stuck around far longer than he was originally intended to appear because he was so popular. They talked about their time on the show, what it was like for Nicholas to work with his twin brother during an episode, James and his British accent and what it was like to be a part of one of the first "musical" episodes of a TV show!

Video Behind the Cut )

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - The Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con has brought celebrities of every variety to town, including James Marsters.

Marsters, who played Spike on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," stopped by the Twist studio to talk with LBJ and promote the "geeky" three-day convention.

"(Geeks) took over the country," he says. "I’m a geek from way back. I was a Star Trek fan before it was cool."

Marsters said his favorite part about touring with Comic Cons is the people he gets to meet.

Watch the full interview above for more.
