*In regards to the Smallville Saturday group photo op time: James (4:30pm), Tom (5:45pm) & Michael (4:15pm) all have different times listed on their schedules, so I'm trying to get clarification from Wizard World about when those photo ops will actually be scheduled. For now I've got it listed as per James' schedule, but I'll update as/when I get some clarification.

Jamie's note: James' schedule has changed to Thurs-Sat, so despite his being listed as part of the Smallville panel on Sunday on the Wizard World programming page, he'll obviously be unable to attend that one. Presumably Wizard World will get that updated when they can.

Just to let you all know, Wizard World has posted (see below) their "first wave" of guests for Sacramento & as a result it looks like James is no longer a guest (although he may not have been in the first place; remember Philly?). Sacramento was showing on his upcoming shows page but, since this update, is not anymore. So while it sounds like Wizard World will be adding more guests to the event, it seems very unlikely that James will be among them. I'll keep you updated if that's not the case.

On the plus side, he's still scheduled to attend Chicago later this month (along with co-stars new & old: Gregg Sulkin, Charisma Carpenter, Tom Welling & Michael Rosenbaum)!

James Marsters in MARVEL’S RUNAWAYS – Season 1 | ©2018 Hulu/Sarkis

At this point, actor James Marsters has done plenty of straight drama and comedy – and time in a rock band, Ghost of the Robot – but he continues to uphold his genre cred. After his indelible performance as the vampire Spike in BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and ANGEL, Marsters’s roles have included anti-human Brainiac on SMALLVILLE, religious zealot Barnabas Greeley on CAPRICA, galactic traveler Captain John Hart on TORCHWOOD, and many more.

Now Marsters has added series regular Victor Stein in Hulu’s RUNAWAYS to the list. Adapted by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage from the Marvel Comics saga created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona, RUNAWAYS concerns a group of disparate teenagers who discover that they have superpowers – and that their parents are supervillains.

The first season of RUNAWAYS is now available on Hulu in its entirety. Marsters is currently shooting the second season, has several new feature films awaiting release and a new album out with Ghost of the Robot, all of which he discusses in this telephone interview.

Marvel’s Runaways has a team of teenage superheroes fighting the villain every kid wants to battle: Their parents. Only for the Runaways, their parents actually are evil members of The Pride. Fan favorite James Marsters plays Victor Stein, the abusive father of Runaway Chase Stein (Gregg Sulkin).

So Good At Being Bad: James Marsters On The Human Side Of Supervillainy

James Marsters
Nov 1st 2017 | Mitch Knox

James Marsters is not a bad man. In fact, during The Music's chat with him in the lead-up to his appearance at Brisbane and Adelaide's Supanova Comic-Con & Gaming expos, the respected actor, musician, video-game enthusiast, husband and father proves to be a charming, genial conversationalist, possessed of a genuine love of his craft and an infectious enthusiasm for discussing its varied nuances and forms.

So, no, he's not a bad man by any stretch; he just happens to be exceptional at playing one. It's not something that he planned, necessarily — he actually got his start in the theatre before making the transition to TV when he moved to Los Angeles, elements of which he revels in being able to use when doing voiceover work for video games, animated shows and audio books, areas in which he has quite extensive history besides — but has nonetheless accepted and embraced the idea that the screen is where his foreseeable future lies.
