It came down to the wire for Syfy's two drama pilots about people with special abilities, Alphas and Three Inches, which were both in serious contention for a series pickup. Syfy just made its final decision, giving Alphas a 11-episode order in addition to the 90-minute pilot. Production is slated to begin in Toronto early next year for a summer 2011 debut. UPDATE: I hear that it is not over for Three Inches, which may get redeveloped.
Meanwhile, it is not over yet for Three Inches. "Three Inches is a terrific project that we continue to be interested in," Stern said. We are working with the producers and production company to see if there’s a way to bring it to our air as well.

Syfy has confirmed that superhero project Three Inches is still in development.
The cable network originally ordered a pilot episode in March, with former Torchwood stars James Marsters and Naoko Mori later joining the cast.
Syfy executive Mark Stern confirmed to Deadline that the recent commission of drama pilot Alphas will not affect the production of Three Inches.
"Three Inches is a terrific project that we continue to be interested in," he said. "We are working with the producers and production company to see if there's a way to bring [that show] to our air as well."
Three Inches focuses on a man who gains the ability to move objects with his mind, but only by three inches. The original pilot episode was scripted by Twin Peaks writer Harley Peyton and produced by Bob Cooper.

Date: 21/02/2011 06:04 pm (UTC)I’ve read that they want to cut the new show Three Inches to a half hour show because its similar to Alphas. Many many people are looking forward to watching a hour long Three Inches supernatural action tv show. The Three Inches show has a great cast of characters, better then Alphas. Its about time the talented James Marsters was offered another tv show. I loved Marsters characters in Smallville and Torchwood. Its insane to cut the Three Inches show to a half hour show, which would actually be 15 minutes of show and 15 min. of commercials. Poor judgment and decision making. Both shows Alphas and Three Inches should be shown as an hour long show. If they are not happy with the Three Inches script premise being similar to Alphas, then change it. Bring back the imaginative talented writer Joss Whedon. Let Joss Whedon write the Three Inches script. Or sell the Three Inches show to another network.
